Emirates has announced plans to begin scheduled flights to nine destinations this week
The news is the latest in a series of updates from the travel and tourism sector asĀ lockdown restrictions are eased slightly in a bid to move towards a new normal.
From May 21, Emirates will operate fights from London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Frankfurt, Chicago, Toronto, Sydney and Melbourne.
The airline is also working to transport essential items across the world through Emirates SkyCargo, which has expanded its weekly scheduled cargo flight operations to cover 75 destinations across six continents.
Holiday hopefuls will still have to err on the side of caution as travellers will only be permitted to board a flight if they ensure they adhere to the entry requirements of any desired destination.
On its website, the airline said: “Safety and wellbeing of customers and crew remain Emirates’ top priorities.”
To keep its staff safe as lockdown restrictions are eased and more travel options become available, Emirates is providing personal protective equipment such as safety visors and disposable gowns.
It has also said all Emirates aircrafts “will go through enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes in Dubai” after each journey to maximise safety.
