The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the installation of Check-in and screening equipment at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja respectively to ease the recent operational hindrances at those airports.
It was reported that Passengers have been having difficulty in facilitation since the untimely withdrawal of services by Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques (SITA) months back, causing a massive system breakdown which is affecting airport and has made FAAN hasten plans to deploy facilities by another service provider, RESA.
According to the airport management along with the facilitation equipment additional fifteen (15) security screening machines have been procured and is being installed at the General Aviation Terminal and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to a statement signed by General manager Public Affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu read, ”In a bid to address recent challenges in airport operations and facilitation management systems at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja respectively, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform airlines, passengers and other stakeholders that the equipment required for addressing these challenges have arrived Nigeria and are already being installed.
“Also, additional 15 security screening machines have been procured for immediate deployment to the General Aviation Terminal and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. They are also been installed already.
“The Authority is using this opportunity to appeal to all stakeholders to please bear with us while the installation is on-going, as all hands are on deck to ensure speedy completion of the project.”
