NIGERIA: FG Announces Date for International Flight Resumption

The Minister of Aviation Hon. Hadi Sirika Today announced that Nigerian airlines will resume international flight operations by August 29, 2020. Starting with Murtala Muhammad international airport, Lagos (MMIA) and Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja (NAIA).

The Minister disclosed this Today, via his official twitter handle.

Recall that Nigeria shut its airspace to international travel on March 23, to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Domestic flight operations began across the country on July 8 with the Lagos and Abuja airports while Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri airports reopened on July 11.

The national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, had on August 6, asked the aviation authorities and airline operators to begin the process for the resumption of international flights.
