If information uncovered by the Reporter is real, there may a some of of repeat of history as there are plans to reserve the old international wings of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International and Murtala Muhammed International Airports for operations of the new national carrier, Nigeria Air when birthed.
Feelers coming from a closed door meeting with the transaction advisers have indicated as much and this has taken the mind back to 2005-2008 when Virgin Nigeria operated from the international airport thereby causing a ruckus among domestic operators until a reversal was ordered.
The Nigerian government had demanded the airline move its domestic operations to the domestic terminal at Lagos, Terminal 2.
Despite Virgin Nigeria’s protesting against the move, its operations were moved without its consent, leading to a series of events that made the virgin group divest interest from the entity.
Presently q in 2023 and then we go back and start the same thing all over again. We should learn our lessons all other airlines are also Nigerian and a level playing field must be given to all. Nobody should be given undue advantage.”
