The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced remobilization of contractors back to site at The Akanu Ibiam International Airport,Enugu, to complete the rehabilitation of the runway and terminal buildings
The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika disclosed this on his twitter handle @hadisirika on Monday saying, “We announce our full remobilization to Enugu despite COVID-19 lockdown.
“Even with challenges like heavy rains, opening up of quarries and bitumen sources we should complete this procurement in few weeks,” the minister commented.
Sirika assured the completion date of the works will be made known at his next inspection visit to the airport. “A definite date of completion will be announced at my next site visit”, he said.
Sirika further said, “Considering that the construction workers have downed tools owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Government, hereby, officially announces suspension of procurement. The work would have been completed in six to seven days, but the workers left to be with their families in view of the social distancing,” the minister stated.
