Nigerian Air Force to Set Up a New Air Base in Gombe

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has announced that plans and arrangements has been made by the Nigerian Air Force to set up a functional base in Gombe.

This was disclosed  by Air Vice Marshal Idi Lubo Yesterday August 4th who represented Chief Abubakar, with the team of officers on a courtesy call on Governor Yahaya Inuwa at the Gombe Government House.

In other to get work rolling, the Governor announced the allocation of 230 hectares of land close to the Gombe Airport, while space was also allocated to NAF in the airport.

The Air boss said the state location as a gate way to the North east states prompted the decision to establish a force operation base in the state.

He said, “the Air Force operates from the sky and we can situate from anywhere. Gombe is a strategic state and the chief of air staff has noted this in deciding to situate one of our operational bases here.”

“NAF Operational Base in the state will ensure maximum security in the North-East region.”

Abubakar also commended the Governor of Gombe state, Yahaya Inuwa, for his effort in ensuring peace in the state peaceful.
