Ryanair, Easy jet and Emirates have resumed flights at Manchester Airport as Terminal 3 reopened today, July 1st after operating a few flights from Terminal one
New safety measures have been implemented at the Airport and these include passengers maintaining social distancing and wearing of a face cover. individual airlines have also implemented their own safety rules to ensure the safety of passengers.
The UK foreign office currently has a blanket rule advising it’s citizens to go on essential international travel amid Coronavirus, the government in the coming days will be introducing a traffic light system to show areas where it considers safe to fly to and this means there will be no need to quarantine.

Emirates
The premium airline resumed flights to Dubai from MAN on June 17, and have worked with authorities to establish its new safety measures for customers.
In a statement, Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ chief operating officer, said: “Emirates is implementing a comprehensive set of measures at every step of the traveller’s journey, to enhance the sanitisation of all touchpoints, and ensure the health and safety of our customers and employees.
“The risk of catching an infection on an aircraft is already very low, but we have spared no effort in reviewing and redesigning every step, from check-in to disembarkation. Every measure implemented is an additional reduction in risk, and taken altogether, our aim is really to make flying as safe as possible.
“We are working with all the stakeholders in Dubai – including the airport, immigration, health and aviation authorities to implement such measures, and we will continue to review and consult expert advice for any development and changes. We are all aware that we have to adapt to different practices during this pandemic in our day to day activities.
“All these measures, in combination with the proactive pandemic management strategies that the UAE has taken, show the seriousness with which we are taking the health and safety of our local and global communities and will give confidence to the public.”
Emirates has introduced complimentary hygiene kits to be given to every passenger upon check in at Dubai International Airport and on flights to Dubai. These kits comprise of masks, gloves, antibacterial wipes, and hand sanitiser.
Gloves and masks are mandatory for all customers and employees at the airport in Dubai, while only masks are mandated on Emirates flights.
Staff coming into contact with travellers will be wearing full PPE, including disposable gowns and visors.
At Dubai airport, passengers will have to walk through thermal scanners.
In boarding an Emirates flight, passengers will be staggered row by row. Plane toilets will be cleaned every 45 minutes, and each will be equipped with hand sanitiser.
To minimise touch, magazines won’t be allowed on board, but hot food will be available, with sterilised cutlery.
Cabin baggage has to be check-in, because customers can only bring essential items such as a laptop, handbag, briefcase or baby items on board.
Emirates say their aircraft cabins have been fitted with advanced air filters which remove 99.97 percent of viruses and eliminate dust, allergens and germs from cabin air.
After its journey and on landing in Dubai, each aircraft will go through enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes to ensure safety and proper sanitation.
easyJet
easyJet restarted some flights from June 15, but these have been restricted to domestic routes in the UK and France.
Almost half of its 1,022 routes will be reopened by the end of July, increasing to 75 per cent during August.
Flights will be at a lower frequency than normal, meaning the airline will operate at around 30 percent of its normal capacity between July and September.
The low-cost carrier is flying to eight destinations from MAN from July 1, as the airport reopens its Terminal 3.
A series of new safety measures have been introduced by the airline, including requiring passengers to wear face masks at airports and on aircraft.
It has produced thousands of face mask covers inspired by comic books to be handed to children flying on selected routes in a bid to ease their anxiety about the new rule.
Other steps to boost hygiene include not selling food during flights, enhanced cleaning of planes, and disinfection wipes and hand sanitiser being provided.
Passengers will be invited to sit away from people not in their party on flights with empty seats.
Ryanair
Ryanair has restarted 40 percent of its normal flight schedule from today – which equates to 1,000 flights a day.
The budget airline is flying to a load of tourist hotspots from MAN on July 1. These include Paris, Krakow, Rhodes, and Corfu.
They ask customers to do the following:
Before you fly
- Check in online, download your boarding pass and where possible choose Priority & 2 Cabin Bags to keep your luggage with you.
- Remember to check your temperature before travelling. It may be checked again at the airport. If you do not pass this, you will be asked to return home.
- Wear a face mask/covering at all times, both in the airport and onboard your flight.
At the airport
- If you are checking a bag, use our automated kiosk and deposit your bag at the bag drop desk.
- Use Fast Track where possible to limit your queuing time at security.
- Make sure to use hand sanitiser or hand wash as you pass through the airport, and where possible maintain some distance from other passengers.
When boarding
- Please don’t queue at boarding gates as priority passengers will be boarded first. There should be no dwelling in boarding stairwells or air bridges.
- Have your passport open and scan your boarding pass to limit your contact.
- Keep your face mask/covering on at all times. Our crew will also be wearing face masks.
Onboard
- All our aircraft are professionally cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis which is effective for over 24 hours.
- Our aircraft are fitted with state of the art air filtration systems which operate to hospital standards.
- We will have a limited inflight service onboard our flights, consisting of wrapped snacks and drinks and sales will be cashless to limit physical contact.
When you land
On arrival, please keep your face mask on until you have left the airport terminal. Try to maintain social distancing as you pass through the airport and at the baggage carousel if you are collecting a bag.
